Flatiron District Office Space The Flatiron District is one of – if not, the-- most popular neighborhood for office space in the tech industry. The exact borders of the Flatiron District overlap and mesh with Union Square to the south and NoMad to the north, but for our purposes, we’ll say NYC office space in the Flatiron District falls between 19th Street and 26th Street and between Sixth Avenue and Lexington Avenue. The office spaces in the Flatiron District tend to be in loft buildings that were constructed in the early 1900s with wood floors and high, exposed ceilings. Many of the most notable buildings in the Flatiron District are occupied by a single company, or just a couple, like 200 Fifth Avenue on the corner of 23rd Street, home to Gray Advertising and Tiffany & Co., 150 Fifth Avenue, occupied completely by Mastercard, and, of course, the Flatiron Building, home to MacMillan Publishing. There are many other multi-tenant office buildings in the Flatiron District where smaller companies can find office space, like 156 Fifth Avenue and 915 Broadway, as well as numerous buildings on the side streets, which tend to have a lower price per square foot than the avenue buildings.

Midtown Manhattan Office Space Although there are plenty of NYC office spaces in other parts of the city, Midtown is thought of as Manhattan’s central business district, and one of the premier locations for office space in Manhattan. Geographically, most offices in Midtown Manhattan fall between 34th Street and 59th Street and between 9th Avenue and 2nd Avenue. Midtown can be divided into 3 sections: Midtown East, Midtown West, and Midtown South. Midtown is home to various types of businesses, with a large number of law firms, accounting firms, hedge funds, and other investment companies. The skyline in Midtown is dominated by towering Class A office buildings, as well as residential skyscrapers, that hoist the titians of industry high above the busy city streets. Some of the most notable office buildings in Midtown include the Chrysler Building, the Empire State Building, the GM Building, the Seagrams Building, and the Rockefeller Center complex, to name just a few. Other noteworthy places in Midtown are Grand Central Terminal, Times Square, Radio City Music Hall, and the New York Public Library.

NoMad Office Space  Over the past decade NoMad has undergone a major transformation, from low rent office spaces and retail storefronts specializing in wholesale goods, to a vibrant area with a plethora of hotels, restaurants and coffee shops. The name NoMad derives from ‘North of Madison Square Park’. It’s relatively small, spanning only 5 blocks from 25th Street to 30th Street and Sixth Avenue to Lexington Avenue. On average, the price of office space in NoMad is lower than office space in Flatiron District. Because of this, many technology and creative companies have chosen to save a few bucks by leasing NYC office space in NoMad.

Midtown South Office Space As the name suggests, Midtown South is the southern portion of Midtown Manhattan. The street boundaries lie roughly between 42nd Street to the north, 34th Street to the south, 9th Avenue to the West, and Lexington Avenue to the east. If you have employees who commute into the city via both Grand Central and Penn Station, Midtown South would be a convenient location for your NYC office space, as many office buildings are easily accessible from both.
